About WikiLook

WikiLook is a free Firefox add-on that allows you to:

  • hover the mouse over a selected word to see its Wiktionary definition
  • link to the Wikipedia entry for that word
  • link to the Unencyclopedia entry for that word

Installing WikiLook

Download WikiLook and follow the instructions on the screen to install.
Once you've installed WikiLook it will appear in your list of add-ons.  You can choose this option to make sure it's there.
After locating WikiLook in your list of add-ons, you can disable or uninstall WikiLook if it's causing problems.
You can click the Options button to enable or disable various WikiLook features. I have the Read automatically box checked but I'm not having any success with that.

Using WikiLook

See the Definition

Select a word and hover the mouse over the word.  You might have to wiggle the mouse slightly, and WikiLook will display the definition.

Look up in Wikipedia

Select the word first, then press Control and right mouse click to bring up the Wikipedia entry for the word.  I had trouble at first getting the timing of this just right...you have to be fast.
